CORE Discipleship Classes

The purpose of a CORE Discipleship class is to allow Christians to be exposed to deeper, systematic studies based around Spiritual Habits. Over the course of the next several years, various classes will be offered on a variety of topics.

Our current CORE offerings are:

Sunday Morning-9:45 am

Modern Parables
This class is a series of short films that retell six of Jesus’ parables in modern-day settings. The titles of the films are “Hidden Treasure,” “Samaritan,” “Shrewd Manager,” “The Widow and Judge,” “The Sower,” and “Prodigal Sons.” The class is led by Carter Wright and meets in the pastor's office.

Martin Luther:
Rick Casey is leading this video series on Martin Luther. Anyone who is interested in learning more about Martin Luther is invited to attend. The class meets in the choir room.

Don't Waste Your Life:
Millions of people are wasting their lives pursuing dreams of happiness that don't rise above a good marriage, nice kids, a successful career, a nice car, fun vacations, nice friends, a fun retirement, a painless death, and (hopefully) no hell. John Piper calls this a tragedy in the making. He argues that we were created for joy. We were designed to have one passion.

In this book he describes his own journey toward this great, single passion. And he pleads that at all costs we pursue our joy in the crucified Christ, who is the glory of God. The cost is great. But the joy is worth any cost.

This class is led by Rev. Gray and meets in Room 122 in the Stalter Center.
