| New Covenant
Presbyterian Church has various Community Service Projects that
go on through out the year. Here are just a few examples of the
ways New Covenant is giving back to our community. If you would
like to be invovled in any of these ministries, please contact
the church office by email or
by calling 626-4375.
The Samaritan Center
The Samaritan Center is our local resource
place for those in need. Providing food, clothing and other necessities
for individuals and families in distress. The Samaritan
Center was closed due to Hurricane Katrina until recently. It
is now reopened and restocking its shelves. If you have items
you can donate, please contact the Samaritan Center at 626-4457.
The Samaritan Center is also looking for volunteers to help,
please call them if you can help. Start
the Adventure in Reading (STAIR) Tutoring Program
This tutoring
program trains adults to help children enhance their reading
skills and then places them with students from Chata Ima Elementary
School for reading once or twice a week. The tutoring program
is currently on hold after the Hurricane. We will begin again
in the Fall. If you can not commit to regular weekly tutoring
sessions, substitute slots
are also
available. Help students learn to read and gain more self-confidence.
To learn more about the STAIR tutoring program, call the church
office at: 626-4375 or email us. |
