Children's Ministries

Sunday Morning

New Covenant provides opportunities for children to be a part of the life of the church through lesson and activities that support the purpose of New Covenant Presbyterian Church.

The mission of the Children's Ministry of New Covenant is:
to share the Gospel with an ever increasing number of children, to support all children and their parents through Christian nuture (as vowed by the congreation in the baptism of children) to teach children the faith and foster Biblical literacy, to guide children to a personal faith in God through Jesus Christ, and to support them through word and deed as they grow to become mature followers of Christ.

New Covenant currently uses the Workshop Rotational Model for our Discipleship Hour programs.
The 9:45 am Hour offers:

  • Nursery for babies to age two
  • Two/Three year old Class
  • Prekindergarten to First Grade Class
  • Second Grade to Fourth Grade Class
  • Fifth and Sixth Grade Class

The 11:00 am Hour offers:

  • Nursery to Age Four
  • Prekindergarten to First Grade Class
  • Second to Fourth Grade Class

The children rotate to a different workshop each week where they study the same Bible story for several weeks learning the lesson in a different and exciting way each week. This method allows children to learn in their own unique way. The children are able to retain what they have learned because they have used various learning methods and senses which help to reinforce the lesson. The workshops we use include:

CREATION STATION: During this workshop, kids hear the Bible story and respond to what they have heard and learned by creating art projects using many different media, which are designed to allow children to manipulate the materials to express the story in new and thoughtful ways as they deepen their understanding of God’s Word.

PRAISING PLAYHOUSE: Puppets and music are an integral part of this workshop. The children learn more about the story through the use of music and praise.

Enjoying Palm SundayPARABLE PRODUCTIONS: Children read or listen to the Bible story and discuss it, talking in depth about each character and scene. Then the story is re-enacted using props and costumes or perhaps a modern-day script is written to explain the same principle or concept being taught. Puppets and music are also an integral part of this workshop. Students often star in their own productions or reluctant actors can serve as the narrator.

Vineyard VideoVINEYARD VIDEO: In our video workshop children hear the Bible Story and then experience it in a new and deeper way by watching quality presentations on video while comfortably seated in our fun bean bags. Lively discussion follows as they are challenged to relate the “old” story to their everyday lives. And, of course, what’s a movie theatre without popcorn!

Going on faithjourney.com adventureCOMPUTER LAB: In our computer lab kids play computer games, design quizzes, take virtual tours of the Holy Land, write and illustrate Bible stories in their own words, create graphic designs which represent Biblical symbols, research Bible culture and much, much more
