| CORE Discipleship Classes
The purpose of a CORE Discipleship class is to allow Christians
to be exposed to deeper, systematic studies based around Spiritual
Habits. Over the course of the next several years, various
classes will be offered on a variety of topics.
Our current CORE offerings are:
Sunday Morning-9:45 am
- NOOMA Series: (NOOMA is the Greek word for Spirit.)
We can get anything we want, from anywhere in
the world, whenever we want it. That’s how it is
and that’s how we want it to be. Still, our lives
aren’t any different than other generations before
us. Our time is now. We want spiritual direction,
but it has to be real for us and available when we
need it. We want a new format for getting
Christian perspectives. NOOMA is the new
format. It is short films with communicators that
really speak to us. Each NOOMA touches on
issues that we care about, that we want to talk
about, and it comes in a way that fits our world.
This class meets in the Fellowship Hall.
- Christianity 101: This class is exploring the
basic understanding of what it means to be in
relationship with the Living God. We will see
what God has revealed about Himself, His Word,
who Jesus Christ is, the Holy Spirit, who we are as
humans, redemption, the Church, and last things.
Our aim is to bring everyone into a deeper
relationship with the Triune God in order that we
may all glorify Him in everything and in every
situation. This class is led by Rev. Gray and
meets in the Stalter Center, Room 122.
- A Women’s Group is studying The Jesus I Never
Knew. In The Jesus I Never Knew, Philip Yancey reveals the real
Jesus beyond the stereotypes, offering a new and different perspective on the life of Christ and His
work---His teaching, His miracles, His death and
resurrection---and ultimately, who He was and
why He came. Relating the gospel events to the
world we live in today, The Jesus I Never Knew,
gives a moving and refreshing portrait of the
central figure of history. This group meets in
Candy Pendleton’s Office, Room 102.
Tuesday Evening 6:30 pm
- A Women’s Study: The Book of John. "I
came so that they can have real and eternal life,
more and better life than they ever dreamed of."
Sound appealing? The Book of John can help you
to experience the power of truth, the power of
life, in an indescribable, unbelievable new way.
Read what John witnessed as he walked alongside
Jesus, the Man who has had the greatest impact
of all time upon our world--a Man whose message
of raw truth, pure love, and clear purpose just
might radically change your life.
This group
meets every other Tuesday evening at the home
of Jacelyn Gray (249-7005) from 6:30p.m.-7:30
p.m.
Wednesday Evening-5:00 pm
- Women's Study of Introduction to Romans: Paul's letter to
the Romans played a crucial role in shaping the
faith of the first Christians. It presents some of
the most thorough explanations of Christian
theology and laid the cornerstone for the creeds
and confessions of the church. From the fallen
state of humankind to the limitless gift of
salvation through Jesus Christ. The dual themes
of God's righteousness and faithfulness strike an
awe-inspiring harmony throughout the entire
book. You are invited to join this group on a lifechanging
journey to the heart of the New
Testament's message. This group meets in the
Stalter Center/Room 122 and is led by
Louise Rusch.
- Sneak Peek - For a sneak peek on next week’s
sermon, join us on Wednesday evening at 5:00 as
Rev. Cruice or Rev. Gray leads a lively discussion
centered around the next week’s sermon scripture
and topic.
Wednesday Evening-6:30 pm
- Men's Group Study - Fellowship and Connecting: Connecting by Larry Crabb. In this book, Dr. Crabb
envisions a day when communities of God's people
- ordinary Christians, whose lives connect as
husband to wife, brother to sister, friend to friend, -
will accomplish most of the healing that we now
depend on for mental health professionals to
provide. God has deposited within us the power to
heal “soul-disease” and that power is released to do
its work as we relate to each other in revolutionary
new ways. In challenging, practical language, Dr.
Crabb shows us how. This book is for those who
want to better learn how to connect with the hearts
and souls of those around them.
Room 123 Stalter Center
